Inside Elsa Hosk’s beauty routine: SPF, simplicity, and secrets for a natural glow

Elsa Hosk may be known for gracing runways and magazine covers, but behind the supermodel glam lies a minimalist beauty enthusiast who values functionality, efficiency, and glow-enhancing skincare. As the new face of SunSolve MD, Hosk talks to Harper’s Bazaar about the beauty products she swears by, her changing perspective on sunscreen, and how motherhood has shaped her routine. Her approach? Less is more, and every product needs to work overtime.

A skincare: First approach to makeup

For Elsa Hosk, beauty begins with healthy skin. That philosophy is exactly why her collaboration with SunSolve MD, a next-gen SPF-meets-skincare brand, felt so seamless. “These sunscreens really act like skincare,” Hosk says. “It’s the most beautiful base for makeup. Sometimes, I don’t even want to wear foundation because my skin already looks so good.”

As a working mom, Hosk doesn’t have time for ten-step beauty rituals. Instead, she focuses on multitasking essentials that deliver. Her favorite? The SunSolve MD Correct + Fade, an SPF 50 formula with just a hint of tint. “It’s gorgeous on the skin. When I wear it, people always ask what I’m using,” she shares. “It treats my skin and protects it, which is all I really need.”

Makeup staples: Function meets aesthetic

Though Hosk is selective about makeup, she has a few hero products she can’t live without. “I’m a lip liner girly,” she laughs, name-dropping Make Up For Ever’s iconic shades like Tonal Taupe and Wherever Walnut as her ride-or-die items. She carries multiples in every bag, often losing them at airports or between shoots.

Another must-have is the new Saie concealer, which she praises for its light, serum-like texture. “It blends so beautifully and looks just like skin,” Hosk says. “When I pair it with the SunSolve, it’s magic. I don’t look like I’m wearing anything, but my skin looks radiant.”

Blush, bronzer, and the art of looking sun-kissed

Blush wasn’t always on Hosk’s radar, but now she can’t live without it. “Now that I’m in my 30s, I love blush. It makes you look youthful and fresh,” she notes, calling out Tom Ford’s blush duos as her go-to. Her technique? Applying it across her cheeks and nose to mimic a natural sun-kissed glow—especially helpful since she avoids sun exposure thanks to diligent SPF use.

When it comes to bronzer, she rotates between Tom Ford and Chanel’s iconic cream bronzer pot. “It creates such a beautiful, healthy finish. It just looks like the sun,” she says. And for eyeshadow? Hosk keeps it minimal: “I just use the same bronzer on my eyelids for a little depth.”

Brows, eyes, and minimal drama

Unlike some beauty lovers who obsess over their brows, Hosk keeps hers low maintenance. “I tint them sometimes because they get so light in the sun,” she explains. For everyday grooming, she swears by Victoria Beckham’s BabyBlade brow pencil in Taupe. “It blends well and looks natural.”

As for eyeliner, she admits she’s a bit out of practice. “I used to be really good at it when I was younger. I had that ’60s winged look down. Now, I want to get good at it again,” she says. Her current mascara of choice? A deep brown from YSL. “It blends in beautifully with my fair complexion, unlike black, which can be too harsh.”

On lip products, nostalgia, and beauty icons

From childhood Lip Smackers to today’s high-performance lip oils, Hosk has always been a lip product enthusiast. “I have so many lip balms in every bag,” she laughs. She especially loves SunSolve’s new volumizing lip oil and Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment.

When asked about her makeup muse, Hosk doesn’t cite a celebrity or influencer—she credits her mother. “She radiates happiness from within and has this natural beauty. She’s like a Finnish forest fairy. The way she sees beauty in the world is just incredible,” she shares.

The beauty of simplifying

Elsa Hosk’s beauty mantra is rooted in simplicity, confidence, and the transformative power of skincare that works. As her career evolves and her roles shift from model to mother and entrepreneur, her relationship with beauty has grown more intuitive and personal. “Makeup and skincare have come such a long way,” she says. “Now, I want products that make me feel amazing with very little effort. I want glow, I want speed, and I want to feel like myself.”

With her partnership with SunSolve MD and a makeup routine built on smart, multi-use staples, Hosk is redefining effortless beauty for a new generation.
