Jesy Nelson brings twin daughters home after NICU battle, just in time for her birthday

After weeks of fear, resilience, and unwavering hope, Jesy Nelson has brought her twin daughters home from the hospital. The Little Mix alum, who faced a high-risk pregnancy and neonatal complications, shared the joyful milestone just in time for her 34th birthday. In this deeply personal journey, Nelson opens up about motherhood, medical challenges, and the power of love in the face of uncertainty.

A long-awaited homecoming

Jesy Nelson finally has her girls under one roof. On June 14, the British singer and former Little Mix member posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram, showing her tenderly holding her newborn daughters, Ocean and Story. Her caption was short and emotional: “My babies made it home for my birthday 🥹🤍.”

This moment marked the end of a months-long ordeal. The twins, born prematurely at 31 weeks on May 15, had spent nearly a month in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Nelson’s post was more than a birthday celebration—it was a declaration of survival, gratitude, and relief.

The twin girls are Jesy’s first children with boyfriend Zion Foster, a musician. Their journey into parenthood has been anything but smooth, but the couple’s resilience through uncertainty has struck a chord with fans and followers around the world.

A high-risk pregnancy and emotional toll

Nelson first announced her pregnancy on January 12, sharing a sweet Polaroid-style photo with Zion and teasing, “She’s eating for 3 now 👶👶.” What should have been a smooth and joyful pregnancy quickly turned complicated when doctors discovered that the twins were monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA)—a rare and high-risk condition where both babies share one placenta but have separate amniotic sacs.

In March, Jesy opened up about the seriousness of the diagnosis in a raw and emotional video on social media. The condition, she explained, could lead to an imbalance in the way the babies received nutrients, with one potentially receiving too much and the other too little. That imbalance could trigger twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a life-threatening complication for both babies.

A few days later, Nelson began experiencing symptoms—tightening in her stomach and shortness of breath—that doctors had warned her to watch for. After an emergency checkup, the singer learned she would need a procedure to address the TTTS. “It’s obviously not what we wanted to happen,” she said at the time, “but it’s necessary because it’s going to give our babies the best chance of surviving.”

Courage in crisis

Throughout the spring, Nelson kept fans updated with videos and messages from her hospital bed, showing gratitude for each week her pregnancy progressed. “We feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong,” she said in an April update.

Finally, on May 18, Jesy and Zion shared the joyful news: the birth of their daughters. “So … our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days,” the couple wrote on Instagram. “It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love 🥹.”

The couple also revealed their daughters’ names: Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, born on May 15, 2025.

Though Jesy and Zion were overjoyed at the safe arrival of their daughters, the next chapter was equally challenging. With their babies born prematurely, the family faced a stretch of time in the NICU. In a heartfelt post on May 25, Nelson shared what that experience was like. “Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU,” she wrote. “It’s the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies.”

She spoke candidly about the helplessness that came with watching her daughters surrounded by wires and machines, unable to hold them freely. But she also shared a moment of joy: the day the girls were reunited for the first time since birth.

“Moments like this feel like a dream,” she wrote. “Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe 🥹 the strongest little girls I’ve ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell 🤍.”

A birthday full of love and healing

With her babies finally home, Jesy Nelson’s 34th birthday became more than just a personal milestone—it became a symbol of everything she had endured and overcome in the past year.

Fans and friends flooded her post with messages of love and support. For many who had followed her journey, seeing Jesy cradle Ocean and Story at home was an emotional full-circle moment. The calm, grayscale image spoke volumes: after months of fear and fragility, there was finally peace.

While the road to recovery and parenting two premature newborns won’t be without challenges, Nelson has already proven her resilience. Her openness about TTTS, pregnancy complications, and the NICU experience has shed light on issues many parents face but few celebrities speak about publicly.

A story still unfolding

As Jesy Nelson settles into life as a new mom, it’s clear she’s entering a new chapter defined by strength, vulnerability, and profound love. The girl who once dominated pop charts is now navigating midnight feedings, NICU flashbacks, and tiny baby coos.

Her fans, many of whom have grown up with her, are watching with admiration as she embraces this next role—not on stage, but in the quiet, unfiltered moments of motherhood.

With Ocean and Story finally home, Jesy Nelson’s story is just beginning. And it’s already one filled with bravery, beauty, and heart.
