Inspired by the art of Origami paper folding blended with traditional East Asian bamboo and rattan weaving techniques, Frank Weeneggsinn’s latest collection showcased exceptional fabric-surface craftsmanship. Panels of glossy fabric were molded into multidimensional pyramid-like structures, transforming silver-toned bomber jackets and oversized shirts into dynamic sculptural works on the runway. The collection was regarded as the brand’s refined interpretation of how to incorporate the spirit of indigenous craftsmanship into high-end ready-to-wear fashion.
New international milestone under DITP
The evening program on September 17 served as a special highlight in the cultural exchange activities of Vienna Fashion Week 2026. Frank Weeneggsinn participated as part of a promotional project led by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of Thailand, appearing alongside fellow Thai brands NICHP and Rose Mars.

The presence of these Bangkok-based fashion brands attracted particular attention from European distributors and the press. The venue was packed as audiences eagerly awaited how young designers from the Land of Smiles would interpret high-end fashion on Austrian soil.
The minimalist stage featured a white backdrop bearing the Frank Weeneggsinn brand identity in an off-white tone. Under the mysterious deep-blue lighting of the MuseumsQuartier fashion venue, the garments’ perforated details, pleating, and handcrafted fiber-weaving techniques were brought into full focus.

Exquisite 3D metallic techniques
The centerpiece of the collection was a series of experiments in creating raised geometric structures on glossy fabrics, evoking a fusion of Origami paper folding and traditional East Asian bamboo and rattan weaving techniques. A lilac-and-silver hooded bomber jacket made a strong impression, with its entire surface assembled from square panels molded into raised pyramid-like structures.
The structured puffer jacket was paired with matching bronze-toned glossy silk shorts and white lace socks finished with intricate floral edging. The contrast between the sporty strength of the garments and the delicate softness of the lace accessories created a groundbreaking take on contemporary menswear street style.

In addition, the raised woven-square technique was applied to the chest of an oversized white women’s shirt. Ruffled pleating framing the woven panel at the center of the shirt, paired with wide-leg lace trousers featuring drawstring-gathered hems, created an overall look that was both unconventional and distinctly romantic.
Removing gender stereotypes through delicate craftsmanship
Throughout the collection, Frank Weeneggsinn consistently pursued an approach that blurred the boundaries between menswear and womenswear by incorporating sheer lace into tailored fashion for men. A knee-length shirt crafted entirely from perforated floral lace, paired with matching straight-leg lace trousers, gave the male model a graceful and liberated appearance.

The fashion brand also introduced long black capes adorned with sparkling embellishments, paired with galaxy-print shorts and a long lace silk scarf tied into a bow and draped down the chest. The models confidently walked the runway bare-chested, celebrating natural physiques while blending them with the sophisticated allure of eveningwear fabrics.
For womenswear, the brand explored wide, pleated ruffled-collar shirts with an aristocratic aesthetic, paired with an asymmetrical black vest and a pleated mini skirt. Over-the-knee black lace fishnet stockings and a deep-blue box-shaped leather handbag added an edgy touch, creating the image of an independent urban woman.
Collective admiration for an oriental phenom
Frank Weeneggsinn’s presentation received prolonged applause from international style experts and journalists in attendance. Critics praised the designer’s skillful combination of traditional Southeast Asian craftsmanship with the gender-fluid fashion trends gaining momentum worldwide.
The brand’s poised appearance at this year’s fashion week demonstrated its significant growth on the international stage. The collection opened up major commercial opportunities, enabling the brand to gain deeper access to European e-commerce platforms and curated retail chains.

Frank Weeneggsinn’s impressive debut successfully fulfilled its role as the opening presentation for the group of DITP Thailand brands on the evening of September 17. The event further strengthened the brand’s position while showcasing the vibrant creative spirit of Southeast Asian fashion.
